Common Issues

Solutions to frequently encountered problems.

App Won't Start

macOS: "App is damaged"

  1. Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy
  2. Click Open Anyway for Docket
  3. Or run: xattr -cr /Volumes/Docket/MacOS/Docket.app

Windows: Missing DLL

Ensure these files are in the same folder as Docket.exe:

  • libcrypto-3-x64.dll
  • libssl-3-x64.dll

Linux: Permission Denied

chmod +x /path/to/docket

Model Issues

Model Won't Load

  • Not enough RAM — Try a smaller model
  • Corrupted file — Re-download the model
  • Wrong format — Only GGUF models are supported

Slow Generation

  • Close other applications
  • Use a smaller model
  • Check CPU temperature (throttling)

Connection Issues

USB Not Detected

  1. Try a different USB port
  2. Use USB 3.0 port for best performance
  3. Check if drive appears in file manager
  4. Try restarting your computer

"Drive Disconnected" Error

The USB was disconnected while in use:

  1. Reconnect the USB
  2. Relaunch Docket
  3. Unlock your vault

Encryption Issues

Wrong Password

  • Passwords are case-sensitive
  • Check Caps Lock
  • Try typing password in a visible text field first

Can't Disable Encryption

You must enter your current password to disable encryption.

Performance Issues

Slow USB Performance

  • Ensure USB 3.0+ connection
  • Avoid USB hubs if possible
  • Check for USB driver updates

High CPU Usage

Normal during AI generation. CPU usage drops when idle.
